09        11th annual M.A.P.E.S. banquet at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel 2450 Galleria Pkwy., Atlanta, GA 30339.  6:00 PM – 11:00 PM 

11-13  The Traumas of Law Enforcement Training in Springfield, IL  Pre-registration is mandatory

16        Knight’s For Kids sponsored by Blue Knights GA VII.  6:00 PM – 11:00

23        GA-C.O.P.S. briefing meeting for National Police Week held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, GA.  10:00 for family survivors and 1:00 for departments   

27-29      The Traumas of Law Enforcement Training in Tallahassee, FL   Pre-registration is mandatory

29        Deadline for C.O.P.S. summer semester scholarship applications

5-7       The Traumas of Law Enforcement Training in East Syracuse, NY    Pre-registration is mandatory

10        GA-C.O.P.S. to conduct line of duty death training with the Georgia Sheriff’s Association Chaplains.  Norman Park, GA from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

13        GA-C.O.P.S. fundraiser dinner at Shane’s Rib Shack at 4835 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30045 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  “Have dinner with a cop.”

17-19      The Traumas of Law Enforcement Training in Oklahoma City, OK   Pre-registration is mandatory

24        Deadline for registering for National Police Week in Washington, DC 

24-26    The Traumas of Law Enforcement Training in Cheyenne, WY  Pre-registration is mandatory

5        10:00 AM - GA-C.O.P.S. quarterly chapter meeting in Savannah, GA. Location to be announced.

6        9:00 a.m. - Blue Knights GA VIII Savannah C.O.P.S. Poker Run. Registration and starting point located at John’s V-Twin Bike Shop in Savannah, GA.  Ride to benefit the GA-C.O.P.S. survivor programs for Georgia’s fallen officers.  Ride pin and meal included with registration fee.  All motorcycles, both marked police units and any civilian motorcycles are welcome.  Contact is Thomas Plumley at bkgaviiipres@bellsouth.net.  The    ride flyer is also on this website under the tab titled “historical events” 

12      4th annual Blake Gammill 5K run and 1 mile walk.  Held at Douglas County Parks & Recreation Clinton Nature Preserve at Winston, GA.  Pre-register by March 29.  For more information contact 404-786-5708

21     C.O.P.S. public awareness week programs

26    Blue Knights GA VII 17th annual Georgia Police Memorial Ride. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Ride departs Turner Field in Atlanta at 11:30 and will end at the Fayetteville Amphitheater in Fayetteville, GA.  Memorial ceremony for fallen officers at end of ride. T-shirts, ride pin and meal included with registration fee.  Proceeds to benefit the GA-C.O.P.S. survivor programs for Georgia’s fallen officers.  All motorcycles, both marked police units and any civilian motorcycles are welcome.  Contact is Ed  Christian at eddie2909@aol.com.   The ride flyer is also on this website under the tab titled “historical events”

14   The first day of the National Police Week survivor conferences, C.O.P.S./Kids/Teens activities, and “Troopers Tour of the Capitol" 

15   The 27th annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service held at the U.S. capitol on the west lawn.  Sponsored by the FOP Grand Lodge & Auxiliary

16   The 2nd day of the National Police Week survivor conferences, C.O.P.S./Kids/Teens activities

16   C.O.P.S. sponsored “picnic in the park” as the grand finale’ for National Police Week

17   Official departure day from National Police Week 2008

??   11:00 AM - Peace Officer Memorial Service conducted by P.O.S.T.  Held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center auditorium in Forsyth, GA

27-30  C.O.P.S. hands-on retreat program for Adult Children of fallen officers held at YMCA Lodge in Potosi, MO.  Must Pre-register

10-13   C.O.P.S. Board/Chapter training at YMCA Trout Lodge in Potosi, MO

July 28-Aug 3  C.O.P.S. Kids Summer Camp – For surviving children/stepchildren ages 6-14 of fallen officers and their parents/guardians. Held at the Salvation Army Camp in East Troy, WI.  Must Pre-register 

July 28-Aug 4  C.O.P.S. Teens Outward Bound program - For surviving children/stepchildren of fallen officers between the ages of 15-20. Held in Leadville, CO.  Must Pre-register 

August

22-25   Fiancées/Significant Others Retreat Program.  Location will be at the YMCA Trout Lodge in Potosi, MO.  Must Pre-register

September

11   Forest Lawn Memorial Service for Georgia’s fallen officers.  Location is at 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349.  Names of officers who died in 2007 will be honored and names engraved on wall.  Time to be announced               

19-22   Siblings Retreat held at the YMCA Lodge in Potosi, MO  Must Pre-register 

21        10:00 AM - GA-C.O.P.S. chapter support meeting. Location to be announced

26-29   Spouses Retreat held at the YMCA Lodge in Potosi, MO.  Must Pre-register 

30        Deadline for scholarship applications for the winter semester

October

11-12  C.O.P.S. Walk 2008.  To be held in the Washington, DC area.  Must Pre-register 

17-20   In-Laws Retreat held at the YMCA Lodge in Potosi, MO  Must Pre-register 

Oct. 31-Nov. 3  Parents Retreat held at C.A. Vine’s Arkansas 4-H center in Little Rock, AR.  Must Pre-register
