A Holiday Challenge to Law
Enforcement
As your family enjoys the
holiday season this year, remember that there are law enforcement families who
are grieving the death of their officer. COPS would like each member of law
enforcement who reads this newsletter to consider helping COPS “Keep the
Promise” to take care of law enforcement’s surviving families. Count your
blessing, be thankful that your family doesn’t need COPS, and send a donation to
help surviving law enforcement families. Visit www.nationalcops.org/donate.htm
to support COPS. You can even make a donation on-line!
The holiday season and the end of the tax year often trigger thoughts of charitable contributions. This year, support the ONLY charity that reaches out and actually TOUCHES the lives of the families of America’s fallen law enforcement heroes - a truly LIVING MEMORIAL.

Law Enforcement Boycotts Mexican Imports
The Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs has asked its 25,000 members to boycott "all products, imports and services that economically benefit Mexico." On Oct. 18, the 5,000-member Riverside Sheriffs' Association announced it was joining the boycott.
Incensed and frustrated by an accused cop-killer who authorities say cannot be extradited to California, the unions that represent sheriff's deputies in Riverside and Los Angeles counties say they'll boycott Mexican goods and services.
Deputies in the two counties have vowed not to buy goods made in Mexico, which would affect a huge variety of consumer products. Officers have also said they will not visit resorts south of the border until the man they say murdered Deputy David March in April 2002 is sent back to California.
This is the 18th edition of the COPS Monthly Email Newsletter and the final one for 2004, the year of COPS’ 20th Anniversary. We wish you and yours a safe and peaceful holiday season with all good wishes for 2005.
The COPS National Office will be closed December 24 and December 31 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
